Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will not hold an open-bus victory parade in Bengaluru due to security concerns and anticipated traffic congestion, local media reports said. As per a revised plan, the IPL champions will be felicitated at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium between 5 PM and 6 PM, and entry will be restricted to ticket holders.
The Karnataka government will hold a felicitation ceremony at the Vidhana Soudha for the entire RCB camp under the leadership of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his deputy, D.K. Shivakumar. One person will speak on behalf of the RCB team, following which the players will leave for the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium by bus, Home Minister G. Parameshwara was quoted as saying by Kannada media.
Not long after the trophy ceremony in Ahmedabad, RCB had announced on X that the details of Wednesday's open-bus victory parade would be released shortly. Then came the schedule stating that the parade was set to begin at 3:30 PM from the Vidhana Soudha and conclude at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. However, the latest updates claim that the decision was overturned due to fears of traffic congestion and security issues in the city.
People planning to attend the event have been asked to keep in mind the limited parking space around the stadium and take the metro to reach the event.
RCB lifted their maiden title in the world's biggest T20 league by getting the better of PBKS by six runs in an exciting summit showdown here on Tuesday, ending a long wait of 18 years for the team as well as its talisman Virat Kohli. They finally got to lift the trophy after finishing runners-up on three occasions previously.
