Kohli fell on the second-last ball of the over when Omarzai delivered a heavy ball, almost halfway down the pitch. The ball was angled in from around off, and Virat Kohli attempted an audacious pull shot but failed. The ball climbed on him, and he played it straight up—just in front of the square leg region. The bowler ran three pitches over to midwicket and made a big dive to complete a sensational catch. There were cries of "stat padding" on social media as the Indian maestro perished while trying to anchor the innings, as he has done many times in the past for his beloved franchise.
RCB scored 55 runs in the batting powerplay after losing Salt, who had started explosively. However, Kohli and Mayank Agarwal could not maintain the momentum, as Arshdeep Singh, Kyle Jamieson, and Vyshak Vijaykumar kept things tight despite the field restrictions.
