After delivering box office hits like Now You See Me and Crazy Rich Asians, director John M. Chu is back with a magical conclusion for his two-part Wicked film series—Wicked: For Good. The official trailer, released by Universal Pictures has led to a significant buzz among fans, promising them a whimsical, fantastical journey.

Taking inspiration from the famed novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, the film opens us to a riveting tale that explores the themes of friendship, betrayal and redemption. The story takes off with Ariana Grande’s Glinda standing on a magical balcony, with the intent of finding Cynthia Ervio’s Elphaba Thropp, who is being chased by Prince Fiyero. The chase sets the tone of the trailer as it pans quickly to unleash a series of scenes where Elphaba works to evade her capture. As the trailer progresses, fans can notice the gradual change in the relationship between the protagonists Elphaba and Glinda.
Coupled with striking visuals, costumes and production, the trailer provides a glimpse into the musical scores of the film. With the theme of Change for Good reiterated throughout, it opens a scene where Glinda says, “Think of what we could do, together” as they fight against the prince and his squadron.

Joining Grande and Erivo will be a stellar cast comprising Jeff Goldblum, Jonathan Bailey, Michelle Yeoh, Ethan Slater, and Marissa Bode among many others. Written by Dana Fox and Winnie Holzman, the film is backed by Marc Platt and David Stone, while John Powell and Stephen Schwarts lead the musical scores.
Wicked: For Good is slated to hit the theatres on November 21.
