In FY 2025, Gautam Adani’s total remuneration was a staggering ₹10.41 crore. While it amounts to around ₹87 lakh per month, this is much lower than his industry peers and even Adani Group’s key leaders.
The 62-year-old Adani Group chairman received salaries from two companies that are part of the conglomerate, the flagship Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL) and the Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ).
From Adani Enterprises, his remuneration for FY 2025 included a ₹2.26 crore salary and another ₹28 lakh in perquisites, allowances and other benefits. From Adani Ports, it was ₹1.80 crore in salary and ₹6.07 crore in commission.
In contrast, Airtel’s Sunil Bharti Mittal took home ₹32.27 crore in FY 2024, Bajaj Auto MD Rajiv Bajaj received ₹53.75 crore in FY2024, and Hero MotoCorp chairman Pawan Munjal got ₹109 crore in FY 2024, according to their last posted annual reports.
In FY 2025, L&T Chairman S.N. Subrahmanyan’s remuneration stood at ₹76.25 crore, while Infosys CEO Salil S. Parekh received ₹80.62 crore.
The only richer man in India than Adani, Reliance chairman Mukesh Ambani has been foregoing his salary since the 2020 pandemic. But before that, his remuneration was around ₹15 crore.
Gautam Adani’s salary less than some Adani executives
Last fiscal, AEL CEO earned ₹69.34 crore, including ₹4 crore salary and ₹65.34 crore in perquisites, allowances and variable incentives, including an allowance “for exceptional operational and financial performance in the mining services and integrated resources management business of the company”, much higher than that of the Group Chairman.
Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) MD Vneet S Jaain earned ₹11.23 crore, and Adani Group CFO Jugeshinder Singh earned ₹10.4 crore during the fiscal year.
Gautham Adani’s son Karan Adani’s remuneration from APSEZ stood at ₹7.09 crore, and APSEZ CEO Ashwani Gupta earned ₹10.34 crore. This is without variable pay, which is expected to be disbursed in the current fiscal period.
However, it does not seem that Adani, the world’s 20th richest man by net worth, has taken a significant pay cut. In fact, he drew 12 per cent more than the ₹9.26 crore in the previous fiscal year, out of which ₹2.46 crore came from APL and ₹6.8 crore from APSEZ.
